March 2019 Giveaway

2006 Seiko 7S26-0020 (SKX007) Automatic Diver, w/Uncle Seiko Bracelet

DCVW partners with Uncle Seiko this month for our first giveaway of 2019, an all original 2006 Seiko SKX007 automatic dive watch, with a stainless-steel Uncle Seiko bracelet.  This giveaway also includes a Seiko patch!

There are many vintage Seiko divers popular with collectors, and the legendary SKX007 is one of these.  With good reason Seiko sold literally hundreds of thousands of these over the past few decades, and it has tremendous cult following.

The design cues of this SKX007 is classic and simple, with immediate evidence of those that came before it, namely the instantly recognizable Seiko 7002 automatic, 7548 quartz, and even the famous 6309 diver.  Its automatic movement is tough and reliable – during its heyday, it was also popular with various armed forces for this same reason, despite the widely held (false) assumption that military personnel only wear military watches issued to them.

Seiko’s SKX007 was a logical step in its mechanical movement line, which debuted in 1996 to replace the 7002 in Seiko’s popular dive watch line. This 7S26 incorporates quickset day and date displays, and automatic bi-directional winding via Seiko’s patented Magic Lever system. The 7S26 automatic movement is a very reliable workhorse – with a power reserve of approximately 40 hours – and it runs at 21,600 beats per hour.

Now - on to Uncle Seiko. If you love vintage Seiko, you've either heard of, or own one of Uncle Seiko's high quality stainless-steel bracelets or straps.  Rather than prattle on about how much we love these here at DCVW, we'll let the man himself do the talking: "Ever since I received a Seiko Bellmatic as a gift many years ago, I have been enamored with their amazing history of great (and affordable) watches!  However, I was often underwhelmed with the bracelets and straps that came with them.  Recently I began offering my own reproductions to enhance our love for vintage and modern Seikos.  My sales philosophy is simple--if I don't love wearing it, I won't sell it.  So I focus on items that I want to wear, and then make them available to the collecting community."
