5k Instagram Giveaway – Orient Bambino, Second Generation
DCVW is giving away this NOS, new in box, with all papers, 2nd gen Orient Bambino, to celebrate our hitting the 5k follower milestone on Instagram
Yes, we realize this is a new watch vice our usual vintage giveaway offering, but the vintage design cues are readily apparent in the fantastic Orient Bambino.
As noted by Worn&Wound in their mid-2012 review, “Orient watches are pretty synonymous with affordable mechanicals. In their ever-changing line up, not only are there the typical three hand models, but also models with power reserves, GMT and calendar complications, almost all of which cost under $1,000 dollars. These aren’t budget watches, they are watches designed to be affordable and high quality, which is an important distinction. And just to confirm that, not only are these watches Japanese made, they exclusively feature in-house calibers…”
“There’s a lot to talk about on the Bambino, as almost every component is unique and finessed to create a seamless retro aesthetic. From the case to the crystal to the dial, no component feels stock or contrived. And powering the watch is genuine in-house caliber automatic movement. Abstractly, thinking about tooling and manufacturing costs, one would expect a watch like this to cost a pretty penny. Well, it’s only $260 MSRP…it will quickly become evident the Bambino is a much more substantial watch than the price suggests. And frankly, it looks so good, no one will believe you paid that anyway.” See more of this full review at https://wornandwound.com/review/review-orient-bambino-er24004b/, and a simple internet search reveals quite a few articles raving about the Bambino,
Or just take this recent humorous Reddit article “What Your Watch Brand Says About You” at face value, “Orient: You love your Bambino, but as you know watches, you don’t claim it’s equivalent to something more expensive. You dream of winning the lottery. You are pure.”
DIAL: Orient-signed black dial, with baton hour, minute, and seconds hand.
CASE: 40.5mm (w/o crown) x 46mm stainless steel case.
CRYSTAL: Domed mineral crystal.
BAND: An oddly atypical 21mm black leather strap, which came with the watch, with Orient-signed stainless steel hardware.
MOVEMENT: Orient calibre F6724 automatic movement; the F6724 movement is automatic, hand-winding, and hacking. Additionally, it is a date-only caliber, aligning perfectly with the design, and succeeding the workhorse 48743 movement. 40 hour power reserve.
CROWN: Original Orient-signed stainless-steel crown.
