Seiko’s Sports divers – such as this 1977 Seiko 6319-6000 automatic diver here – were popular, and quite reminiscent of the late 1960’s and 1970’s chic. This all original automatic dive watch is no different, and - of note - the 6319 automatic movement is highly similar to the 6309 movements, and in fact can be used interchangeably
Seiko’s Sports divers were 70-meter diver watches, aimed at “light” water sports that gained in widespread popularity during the late 1960’s and 1970’s – hence the 70-meter dive rating; however, these dive watches did not feature diving bezels.
Seiko made literally hundreds of Sports diver variations during this time period, with the Japanese manufactures’ Suwa and Dani factory seemingly in competition with one another to see which could devise the most compelling models.
This 6319 sports diver comes with a a leather rally strap, nylon NATO strap, Pelican travel case, and spring bar tool.
