What to say about this atypical watch, the 1974 Seiko Delica 2415-3030 womens dress watch, on its original Seiko bracelet?
Many Seiko watches from the 1960’s through the mid-1980’s have rightly gone down as design classics, building a considerable following amongst watch collectors. Some truly gorgeous watches from the same era produced by the same company have quietly slipped under the radar for the simple reason they were designed for the typically slighter wrist, ie: women.
The design of the 2415 automatic watch here follows suit - classic and simple. In fact, it even slightly resembles a certain square-design watch that shall remain nameless. And it’s a shame, because many of these smaller watches feature exquisite details – the Roman numerals on the dial add a great classy touch, completing this dress watch nicely.
The Delica line was manufactured throughout the 1970s, and most models contain the Seiko calibe 2415 automatic movement. The line featured a variety of styles, from round and oval shapes to rarer "TV-cased" or hexagonal-shaped cases; similarly, Delica dials came in many different colors, with variations including Roman numeral indices like the example here.
Seiko found an original, great looking formula for its watches, and stuck with it. The automatic movements Seiko designed for watches like these are tough and reliable – and the cases that house them stylish!
This atypical Seiko 2415 comes on its original stainless-steel Seiko bracelet, and with nylon strap, rugged travel case, and springbar tool.
