There are many vintage Seiko icons popular with Seiko enthusiasts, and the 1980s Seiko Lukia Collection line – like the colorful 1999 Seiko 4N21-1130 on its original stainless-steel bracelet here – is not one of them. Why? Because women's watches all too often languish in relative obscurity, as they are designed to accommodate the more...slender of wrist.

But what pops the most on this watch here? True to Seiko design for decades its the dial, of course!

Seiko's Lukia collection (often engraved simply as "LK" on watch dials and bracelet clasps) were a popular line of elegant, fashionable women's watches. Launched in 1995, the line was designed to blend Japanese precision with everyday elegance and typically features solar, automatic, or quartz movements.

Made to this day, Seiko designed the Lukia line to be both practical and fashionable, based on the concept of simplicity with an "unfeminine feel." While most women's watches at the time were small and simple, the Lukia line could incorporate date, day of the week, and 24-hour counter sub-dials.

Related to the watch here, 1969 was one of the most spectacular years in Seiko’s storied history. That year, it released the world’s first automatic chronograph, the Calibre 6139 and, separately, the V.F.A. (Very Fine Adjusted) movement – which delivered Seiko’s highest yet level of precision for a mechanical movement.

But Seiko wasn’t finished – it would also release another first upon the world, the first quartz wristwatch. Seiko’s proprietary technology went on to change the way the world told time, and severely tested the dominance of the Swiss, bringing high technology within the reach of all.

This late 1990s Seiko Lukia comes on its original stainless-steel bracelet, and with spring bar tool, rugged travel case, and Seiko 4N21 instructions manual.
